After 6 hours, all papers were marked. My neck is killing me, which puts me in a particularly sarcastic mood, and I really don't have all that much to say. I'm looking forward to next term when I don't have to teach. There may not be a TidBits next week or the week after. If that's how things work out, I'll take this chance to wish a happy holiday season to everybody in the group. Herb... } - Steve Austin will be out of commission for at least 8 more months. Another great worker falls out of the WCW mix. Arn Anderson may also be sidelined for a while. On the bright side, Blacktop Bully will start in the new year. There's always the Cruiserweight tournament, right? - WCW has Starrcade '94 on 12/27/94. Line-up has: - Hulk Hogan vs. Butcher for the WCW Title - Sting vs. Avalanche - Jim Duggan vs. Vader for the US Title - Kevin Sullivan vs. Mr. T - Nasty Boys vs. Harlem Heat - Johnny B. Badd vs. Honky Tonk Man for the TV Title - Alex Wright vs. Jean Paul Levesque Harlem Heat won the tag titles at a recent WCW taping, so it's possible that the tag match may become a title match. It all depends on when they plan to air the change, I guess. This is certainly the worst WCW line-up in a long time and I certainly wouldn't order it if I were home that day. It's likely that my parents will want to see the show (now *that's* hardcore. They watch New Japan, All Japan, All Japan Women, SMW, WCW, WWF and whatever indy stuff I pass by them all regularly. The only thing they've ever rejected outright is ECW, based more on the TV show which had more annoying things than worthwhile things for them. They acknowledge that this cards stinks, but they still said that they'd be interested to watch it, perhaps quickly). Avalanche may have to work the show injured. Will anybody notice the big difference? There's a joke in here somewhere, but I'll just say that the big guy has a torn groin. Randy Savage will appear the show as a babyface. He has teased that he could be Hogan's ally or enemy in the desperate hope to give us something interesting here. There is a lot of talk that Hogan will drop the WCW Title to Butcher at this show as the big surprise, perhaps even doing an injury angle to lead to Savage making the save to set up the Clash. - WCW will run another All-Night special on 01/20/95, promoting it as somewhat of a tribute to Rick Steamboat. - WCW has a Clash of Champions on 01/25/95. Tentative line-up has *- Butcher vs. Randy Savage *- Blacktop Bully vs. Dustin Rhodes Popular rumour has it that Savage will win the WCW in the above match. Of course, this is based on Hogan dropping the strap to Butcher at Starrcade. The logic is that they want to re-run the Hogan vs. Savage feud next year (not a bad idea, since this feud made a lot of money for the WWF in 1989) and Hogan won't drop the belt to Savage directly but he will drop it to his pal, Ed. Boy, WCW sure has the rumour mill swirling! ;-O (how does one draw a barfing smiley?) - AAA is reportedly planning another PPV in 04/95. WCW will be involved again. - Awards: I've almost got the ballots ready for processing, an exercise that once again proved reasonably frustrating due to sloppy voting. In any case, I should finish things off on the weekend and hopefully find some time to massage things into a nice format (adding comments from voters, etc., all done manually). I should post the results post -- a long and short one, lest there be flames -- by Sunday or Monday. I will also send this around on the various mailing lists. Any hints on outcomes? Well, one thing is clear: everybody is pretty pissed at WCW for running with Hulk Hogan. - Videos: I have posted something about the availability of videos. If you missed it, I'll send it to you in e-mail upon request. Basically, all of the tapes in my video collection are available. My tape list is on the r.s.p-w ftp site (128.227.59.59) in the file herbtape.zip. I have made a total of five compilation tapes for the net: R.s.p-w 1, Japan 1981-1983, Japan 1984-1987, VideoMarinepiad I, and VideoMarinepiad II. If you are interested in details on any of these, just send some e-mail or browse the ftp site. Herb...
