If I wasn't on drugs at the time - oh, well I was on some painkillers ;-) -, that was Paul Orndorff (along with Steve Austin, Shanghai Pierce, and Tex Slashinger) in that cameo shot during the BattleBowl drawing at the Clash. - The official reason for the firing of Davey Boy Smith and the Ultimate Warrior by the WWF has been listed as "unprofessional conduct." In the WWF, that could mean anything from refusing to do a job, to demanding more money, to not sleeping with the booker, to squirting someone else's urine out of a Visine bottle at drug testing time. There are some lingering reports that these two were terminated because of steroid related offenses. There's also still talk that the Ultimate Warrior decided to make strong contractual demands. Some reports have Davey Boy Smith suffering from a bum knee and refusing to work. Whatever the reason, these guys are history. - Da Mountie, Jacques Rougeau, called it quits because of a nagging knee injury and a desire to get involved in other business ventures. - There's lots of talk this week about negotiations between Vince McMahon and Hulk Hogan cooling off a bit. New Japan has announced that they are close to signing to Hogan to team with Antonio Inoki at the Tokyo Dome show on 01/04/92. - The WWF has it's annual Survivor Series PPV from Richfield, OH, on 11/25/92. Matches will include: - Bret Hart vs. Shawn Michaels for the WWF Title *- Randy Savage & Curt Hennig vs. Ric Flair & Razor Ramon with trouble-shooting referee Sgt. Slaughter - Big Boss Man vs. Nailz in a nightstick match - Kamala vs. The Undertaker in a casket match - Money Inc. & Beverly Brothers vs. Natural Disasters & Nasty Boys - Tatanka vs. Rick Martel - Headshrinkers vs. High Energy *- Yokozuna vs. Virgil Although it seem definite that Ric Flair will wrestle in the main event tag match, there was some talk that Sid Justice may be brought in as a heel replacement if Flair can't work. Also, there's still talk of Lou Albano debuting as the manager of the Nasty Boys on the show. Speaking of the Nasty Boys, they were guests on Regis & Kathy Lee on Wednesday. They hyped their 8-man tag match a bit. - WCW has Starrcade '92 on 12/28/92 from Atlanta's Omni. Matches are scheduled to include: *- Sting vs. {winner of Big Van Vader vs. Dustin Rhodes on 11/21/92} in the finals of the King of Cable tourney *- The second annual Battlebowl match with teams to be drawn live at the PPV. The only announced team is: - Cactus Jack & Johnny B. Badd vs. Dan Spivey & Van Hammer There's already talk of having a few New Japan wrestlers come in for the PPV. If Chris Benoit comes in and Too Cold Scorpio stay around too, this could really boost the quality of the show. - Awards: I'm heading to Toronto tomorrow morning, so I won't be able to work on the awards this weekend. Unfortunately, I didn't get them done yet. Between physiotherapy and my chiropractor, I'm spending a fair bit of time in (and travelling to and from) different clinics. Next week, I start intensive physio at the Canadian Back Institute - this will take at least two hours a day every day for a couple of weeks. Sorry, but it's hard to find a lot of spare time after all of that crap. I'll have them done some time next week, though. Herb...
