I haven't even watched the sydnies from last weekend yet - too busy preparing for my thesis defence. } - WCW's WrestleWar '92 takes place on May 17 on PPV. The line-up will (tentatively) include: - Sting & Ricky Steamboat & Nikita Koloff & Dustin Rhodes & Barry Windham vs. The Dangerous Alliance in a Wargames match - Steiners vs. Tatsumi Fujinami & Takayuki Iizuka to determine the number one contenders to the IWGP Tag Titles (held by Bam Bam Bigelow & Big Van Vader) - Terrence Taylor & Greg Valentine vs. Freebirds for the US Tag Titles - Brian Pillman vs. Tom Zenk for the Lightheavyweight Title - Van Hammer vs. J.T.Southern - Marcus Alexander Bagwell vs. Scotty Flamingo - Cactus Jack vs. Healthfood Dog - WCW has a Clash of Champions on June 16th. This show will feature the first round of the NWA tag team title tournament. The tournament will include: - The Steiners - Arn Anderson & Bobby Eaton - Barry Windham & Dustin Rhodes - Ricky Steamboat & Nikita Koloff - Tom Zenk & Marcus Alexander Bagwell - Rick Rude & Steve Austin - The Freebirds - Terry Taylor & Greg Valentine - Jushin Riger & Brian Pillman - The Malenkos - Steve Williams & Terry Gordy and some other foreign teams. After the first round, the remaining tournament matches will take place on the Great American Bash '92 PPV. - Hopefully, the return of the Diamond Studd to WCW won't start up that dreaded comparison to you-know-who. Diamond Studd will be trying you get recruited by the Dangerous Alliance. - Apparently the WWF will be canning the Funeral Parlor and Barber Shop interview segments, and replace both with Piper's Pit. The Pit won't have a set like it did in previous years, but will just take place in the ring. No word on the future of Brutus Beefcake. - Hulk Hogan starts filming "Rough Stuff" next month. Early description has Hogan playing a nanny for a troubled family. Yeah. Next they'll cast him as a wrestler. Where has believability gone? - The Warlord was suspended for 60 days, with talk off the suspension being steroid related. - Videotape: Well, the ballots listing matches to be considered for inclusion on the tape were sent out earlier in the week. In total, there were 201 (!) matches, interviews, angles, whatever, nominated for consideration. I won't bother listing everything in this posting, but suffice to say that the total time of everything was some 25 hours. The most popular 6 hours will be tossed onto the video. The deadline for ballots is Sunday and many people have already responded. This means that I should be able to post a detailed match list for the video next week. - Personal: I had my thesis Masters defence this morning. It ran quite long, with me giving a 20 minute talk on my work followed by a question period that ran for 1.75 hours. It was more gruelling than a Jushin Riger vs. Naoki Sano match, and probably had just as high a workrate. In the end, I got my degree. Herb..., M.Math...
