I've just been forgetting to send it to the info-list and Jack has apparently disappeared for the time-being. I had no idea Jack was gone until I received several "You're probably aware of this, but I haven't received your post in e-mail for n weeks" e-mail notes. I'll punch it to the list from now on (fingers crossed) and we'll if Jack ever comes back. The "Italian & Hispanic" cable channel Telelatino (that primarily serves Toronto and surrounding region, I believe) airs Lucha Libre every Tuesday at 12:15am (just after Monday midnight). It's unclear exactly what package they air, but it's not identical to the Galavision show. This week's show featured - Konnan & Eddie Guerrero & El Signo & Negro Navarro vs. Cibernetico & Tinieblas & La Parka & Hijo del Santo - Rey Misterio Jr. vs. Karloff Lagarde The first match ran 27 minutes with no commercial interruptions. After a brief (1.5 minutes or so) commerical break, the second 15+ minute match aired without interruption. The first match was on the 02/27 weekend Galavision TV show, but we didn't get the prelim match from that show. I haven't found the time to determine when the Misterio match took place or if it aired on Galavision earlier. It took place in Mexico City. - As has been mentioned countless times already, it looks like the price tag to have Lawrence Taylor wrestle against Bam Bam Bigelow at WrestleMania is $500K. Originally, it had been said that LT was earning $100K for the Rumble shoving incident and $100K for the match. I've heard two reports that LT will be called Lawrence the Giant, a play on words. - Reports about Jesse Ventura working for the WWF vary. Meltzer reported that the two have not even had any contact about Jesse commentating. I've heard that the two sides spoke but they were too far apart to reach an agreement. Keep in mind that there is a lot of legal history between the two. Last word was that Shane Douglas and Michaels Hayes were going to get try-outs for the Monday Night RAW colour commentator spot, with Douglas already having his try-out scheduled. If this is the case, one has to believe that Shane would no longer work for ECW if he got the WWF job. Speaking of this Ventura thing, what did Meltzer say that pissed people off? That it appear that "[the rumour] was something started on computer bulletin boards which people who should have known better reported as a news item?" If that sentence bothers you, then you're too sensitive, IMO. Meltzer had carefully mentioned that there were rumours that Jesse could be the colour man on RAW. As with a lot of topics here, rumour reports often become accepted as fact after a few follow ups. It's quite possible that somebody looking in would report that people here *know* Jesse is coming back and honestly expect Vader to shoot on Hogan. That's what happens in an unmoderated newsgroup with many posters. - The WCW Cruiserweight tournament will be bumped back a few months backs. There are supposedly honest plans of bringing in talent from New Japan and AAA and to maybe even use some smaller independent talent. Meltzer has mentioned AAA's Jerry Estrada and Latin Lover as candidates, so there might not be reason to get your hopes up. - There's talk that the Undertaker will return from his knee injury by the middle of this month. Meltzer reports that he's married to Bigelow until WrestleMania. Other reports say Undertaker is going to be out longer than expected, not returning until May. No Undertaker match at WrestleMania? There's a plus for the workrate contingent. - WCW will have a PPV on 03/19/95 called "WCW Uncensored." Rumored line-up has: *- Hulk Hogan vs. Vader in a strap match *- Sting vs. Big Bubba Rogers *- Randy Savage vs. Avalanche *- Harlem Heat vs. Nasty Boys in a tornado match *- Dustin Rhodes vs. Blacktop Bully in a "King of The Road" match *- Arn Anderson vs. Johnny B. Badd in a wrestler vs. boxer match The "King of The Road" match will take place in the back of a truck. - The WWF has WrestleMania XI on 04/02/95. Tentative line-up has: - Diesel (with Roddy Piper) vs. Shawn Michaels (with Sid Vicious) for the WWF Title - Bam Bam Bigelow vs. Lawrence Taylor - Undertaker vs. King Kong Bundy - Bret Hart vs. Bob Backlund There is some doubt about the Undertaker match taking place here. - WCW has Slamboree on 05/21/95. *- Hulk Hogan & Randy Savage vs. Vader & Ric Flair *- Sting vs. Big Bubba Rogers *- Kevin Sullivan vs. The Man With No Name - Interview: Apologies to those following the interview I've been posting in pieces here. This week's installment fell victim to scanner software sabotage; the techies will eventually reinstall the OCR software I was using, but it was enough of a problem to kill my attempts to scan stuff today. - Booking Prediction Tourney: The "WCW Uncensored" ballot will be posted in a couple of weeks, about a week before the PPV. - WWW: This post is presented weekly, presumably with some short delay, on Mark Long's r.s.p-w home page on the Web. That page contains a lot of interesting wrestling info, so give it a try at: http://www.luc.edu/~mlong/wrestling.html - Videos: I have posted something about the availability of videos. If you missed it, I'll send it to you in e-mail upon request. Basically, all of the tapes in my video collection are available. My tape list is on the r.s.p-w ftp site (istrain.health.ufl.edu) in the file herbtape.zip. I have made a total of five compilation tapes for the net: R.s.p-w 1, Japan 1981-1983, Japan 1984-1987, VideoMarinepiad I, and VideoMarinepiad II. If you are interested in details on any of these, just send some e-mail or browse the ftp site. Herb...
