Prior to this, there were five charges in total, but the courts were convinced that only three of the charges were distinct, deciding that two charges each against both Vince and Titan were duplicate. - Meltzer reports that Rick Rude was at Slamboree in Philadephia, but claimed an injury and also grandstanded, saying that he would not do any jobs for Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair or Vader. The decision to go with Sting vs. Vader to decide the WCW International Title had already made, but the decision to go with the "the board of directors stripped Rude" story line wasn't made until Rude balked at the proposed story line to explain the match change. Really, Rude hasn't been a good worker for a while because of injuries, so canning him will hopefully improve the work on top and send a message to other egos on the roster. - Steve Austin worked the WCW Orlando tapings without Col. Rob Parker in his corner and they seemed to be building a feud with Rick Steamboat for the US Title. - Earthquake has quit the WWF already, pissed off at how he was being used. - The WWF ran an ad this past weekend on the syndies plugging the induction of several names into the WWF Hall of Fame (which only has Andre in it right now, I believe). The ad listed Chief Jay Strongbow, Freddie Blassie, Gorilla Monsoon, James Dudley, Arnold Skaaland, BoBo Brazil, and Buddy Rogers as the new inductees. Hard to believe that Hulk Hogan and Bruno Sammartino aren't in there. Oh, wait, not that hard to believe after all. Meltzer joked about James Dudley, who was Vince McMahon Sr.'s limousine chauffeur. - Everybody seems confused about when Curt Hennig will appear for WCW. There was talk of having him work at the 07/17/94 PPV and of having him work (against Ric Flair) at the August Clash, but all of that hinges on how he left the WWF. If he quit he'll have to get a release to work for WCW before October and it seems doubtful that the WWF would do that. Curt was backstage at Slamboree, but they didn't risk having him appear on camera. - The WWF has the King of the Ring PPV on 06/19/94 from Baltimore. Announced line-up has: - Bret Hart vs. Diesel for the WWF Title (the IC Title will not be on the line in this match) - Roddy Piper vs. Jerry Lawler - Headshrinkers vs. Yokozuna & Crush for the Tag Titles - an 8-man King of The Ring single elimination tournament, which looks like this: IRS (def. S. Steiner) --\ |----\ Mabel (def. Pierre) --/ \ |----\ Razor Ramon (def. Kwang) --\ / \ |----/ \ Bam Bam Bigelow (def. S. Plugg) --/ \ |-- King! Jeff Jarrett (def. Lex Luger) --\ / |----\ / 1-2-3 Kid (def. Adam Bomb) --/ \ / |----/ Tatanka (def. Crush) --\ / |----/ Owen Hart (def. Doink) --/ Obviously, the intention it to have Owen Hart carry the tourney and perhaps have the show-stealer in the second round. But Owen has a bum knee and can't get the time to recover thanks to headlining the WrestleMania Revenge Tour -- this explains all of those ** Bret vs. Owen matches, doesn't it? One wonders how he'll be for this show. Diesel also has a bum knee right now, although there's really no ability to affect in his case. It's difficult to believe that Lex Luger won't be on this PPV. The Roddy Piper vs. Jerry Lawler story line is expected to carry the PPV. This coming week Lawler interviews a kid, who he calls Roddy Piper and who does an imitation of Hot Rod. Then, Amanda Ultimate Warrior runs out of the crowd and destroys the Piper imitation before Dink breaks it up. Oh wait, scratch that last sentence. Speaking of Piper, his movie "Back To Action" opens tomorrow. It stars Piper and B-movie action "star" Billy Blanks. The ad reads "One cop. One Vigilante. Alone they're unstoppable. Together they're invincible." It's expected that Ted DiBiase's Undertaker (actually Brian Lee, not Mark Callaway) will appear at this PPV, leading to the return of the original Undertaker in the following couple of months. Art Donovan, a former Baltimore Colt, is expected to appear at the show. - WCW has a Clash of Champions on WTBS in 06/23/94. Once again, it starts at 8:05pm EST and runs for 2 hours. The tentative line-up includes: - Steve Austin vs. Johnny B. Badd for the US Title *- Nasty Boys vs. Kevin Sullivan & Cactus Jack for the WCW Tag Titles in a gang fight match Hulk Hogan is expected to make his first WCW in-arena appearance for this show. - WCW Saturday Night on 07/09/94 will be broadcast live. - WCW has The Great American Bash on 07/17/94 from Florida. - Videos: I have posted something about the availability of videos. If you missed it, I'll send it to you in e-mail upon request. Basically, all of the tapes in my video collection are available. I've uploaded an updated version of my detailed tape list to the ftp site. I've managed to enter some details for all of my weekly TV tapes, so there's a total of very close to 500 tapes listed. If you are interested in getting a copy of VideoMarinepiad I, drop me some e-mail. VideoMarinepiad II will probably take place over two days in June, with the majority of the show taking place on 06/19/94. All promotions will be considered for participation in VM II and hopefully we'll showcase a diverse selection of matches so that fans of any one promotion won't feel insulted. The Chuck Austin piece from "American Journal" is the first item on the VM II tape. Next week, I should start talking about matches that will be considered for the show. Herb...
