There will probably be a break of one week in my posting schedule at that time while I arrange net access there and get settled in. } - Serving as further evidence of the death of Hulkamania, Gene Okerlund has jumped ship from the WWF to WCW. Okerlund joined the WWF at the same time as Hulk Hogan did in 1983 and, at times, was the most recognizable voice in the promotion. Both Okerlund and Bobby Heenan were contemplating a jump, but Heenan remains in the WWF fold. As a deal sweetener, Okerlund will take over control of the WCW 900 phone line and reportedly earn 35% of that income plus $250000 a year. He will reported debut in WCW next week, working as a program host of some sort and doing the magazine and event center segments. - In a bit of a surprise, Lex Luger failed in his attempt to win the WWF title from Yokozuna on Monday. Word has it that Vince wants to ride out the current large houses without mixing things up too much and then do the title change. - As already reported in bits and pieces on the net, WCW's Clash of Champions from 08/18/93 drew a 3.8 rating and was the most watched wrestling show in the US in 1993. - WCW has the Fall Brawl PPV on 09/19/93 at 7:00pm EST from Houston. Tentative matches include: - Ric Flair vs. Rick Rude for the NWA Title *- Paul Roma & Arn Anderson vs. Nasty Boys for the tag titles - Sid Vicious & Van Vader & Harlem Heat vs. Dustin Rhodes & Davey Boy Smith & Sting & Shockmaster in a Wargames match - Cactus Jack vs. Yoshi Kwan - Having beeen canned as the second Doink in the WWF, Steve Keirn has been signed by WCW to work low level matches using his Skinner gimmick. - UWFi from Japan will run a shoot-style PPV which will air in North America on 10/05/93. - WCW has Halloween Havoc on PPV on 10/24/93 (tentative date). Tentative line-up includes: - Big Van Vader vs. Cactus Jack in a "Spin the Wheel, Make The Deal" match - Nasty Boys vs. Ric Flair & Paul Roma for the Tag Titles - Sting vs. Sid Vicious - WCW has the Lethal Lottery on PPV on 11/21/93 and Starrcade just after Christmas. - The WWF has Survivor Series on PPV on 11/25/93 in Boston. Tentative line-up includes: - Team USA: Lex Luger & Steiners & ? (Jim Duggan?) vs. Team Foreign Scum: Ludvig Borga & Yokozuna & ? (Nikolai Volkoff?) - WCW will supposedly run a Clash live from Wembley Stadium in London, England, on 11/25/93 starting at 8:00pm London time. This means that the show will air here on WTBS at 3:00 pm on Thanksgiving. - E-mail TidBits: If your site has a slow feed or you don't read news frequently enough and you want to get this posting as e-mail every week, send me e-mail saying so. - Videos: I'll probably need somebody to tape the WCW PPVs for me while I'm in Edmonton. I'm very finnicky though. Ideally, if there's somebody out there with two Stereo Hi-Fi high quality VCRs with no access to Japanese stuff, that's the person I'm looking for. That way, both that person and I can get an original copy of the show by chaining the VCRs. Since there's a PPV every month from September through December, this give that person a good chance to trade four tapes with one PPV each for four 4-hour tapes with anything from my collection on them. Anybody interested should drop me some e-mail. I had hoped to get the Bull Nakano vs. Devil Masami match from 04/18/93 before going away, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen with only a couple of days left. For info on tape discussions, send e-mail with a body consisting solely of the word "help" to Majordomo@cc.gatech.edu. That id handles subscription and unsubscription requests among other administrivia. The list id is rspwtape@cc.gatech.edu. Mail sent to this id will be sent to all current subscribers. Herb...
