Message-ID: Sender: news@watdragon.uwaterloo.ca (USENET News System) Organization: University of Waterloo Date: Tue, 24 Aug 1993 14:04:23 GMT Lines: 93 { Somebody just sent me e-mail asking about last week's tidbits. I can't find a record that I even posted it! Sorry for the lateness and for what is mostly old news now, but here it is. And I wondered why nobody was talking about a rumour in here. There will still be a new post on Thursday - this one was prepared for last week. } - WCW Clash of Champions XXIV will be rebroadcast on 08/27/93. - I've read one report from an admittedly unreliable source that Rick Rude showed up with both the NWA & WCW World titles at a very recent WCW taping. - Brian Pillman will reportedly be out for three weeks with his ankle injury. - The WWF has SummerSlam on 08/30/93. Match line-up: - Yokozuna vs. Lex Luger for the WWF Title - Jerry Lawler vs. Bret Hart to decide the King of the WWF - Shawn Michaels vs. Curt Hennig for the IC Title - Steiners vs. Heavenly Bodies for the Tag Titles - Undertaker vs. Giant Gonzales in an "R.I.P. match" - 1-2-3 Kid vs. I.R.S. - Razor Ramon vs. Ted DiBiase - Headshrinkers & Bam Bam Bigelow vs. Tatanka & Smoking Gunns - Ludvig Borga vs. Marty Janetty - Adam Bomb vs. Tito Santana (dark match) Only the Undertaker knows the rules of an "R.I.P. match." No more word on last week's rumour that Jerry Lawler was history with the WWF. Maybe he's out after SummerSlam as part of the WWF housecleaning. - WCW will bring in Chris Cruise to do the WCW Magazine segments and Terry Taylor as a commentator. - New Japan has "Wrestle Dinner" scheduled on 08/29/93 at the Tokyo Prince Hotel. The four match line-up will see: - Satoshi Kojima vs. Shinjiro Otani - Manabnu Nakanishi vs. Yuji Nagata - Jushin Riger & Keiji Muto vs. El Samurai & Hiro Hase - Masa Chono & Shinya Hashimoto vs. Akira Nogami & Takayuki Iizuka After the matches, several New Japan wrestlers and All Japan Women wrestlers Manami Toyota & Takako Inoue will model the latest wedding fashions. Sometimes amidst all this fun, dinner will be served. Tickets are $286 or $429 US. - WCW has the Fall Brawl PPV on 09/19/93. Tentative matches include: - Ric Flair vs. Rick Rude for the NWA Title *- Sid Vicious & Van Vader & Harlem Heat vs. Dustin Rhodes & Davey Boy Smith & Sting & Shockmaster in a Wargames match - UWFi from Japan will run a shoot-style PPV which will air in North America on 10/05/93. - WCW has Halloween Havoc on PPV on 10/24/93 (tentative date). Tentative line-up includes: - Big Van Vader vs. Cactus Jack in a "Spin the Wheel, Make The Deal" match - Nasty Boys vs. Ric Flair & Paul Roma for the Tag Titles - Sting vs. Sid Vicious Cactus Jack doesn't return to TV until 09/04/93. - WCW has the Lethal Lottery on PPV on 11/21/93 and Starrcade just after Christmas. - The WWF has Survivor Series on PPV on 11/25/93 in Boston. - WCW will supposedly run a Clash live from Wembley Stadium in London, England, on 11/25/93 starting at 8:00pm London time. This means that the show will air here on WTBS at 3:00 pm on Thanksgiving. - E-mail TidBits: If your site has a slow feed or you don't read news frequently enough and you want to get this posting as e-mail every week, send me e-mail saying so. - Videos: Yesterday, before the Clash, Curtis and I watched a little bit of stuff on tape, nothing particularly great though. The highlight was an old Kevin von Erich vs. Kabuki match which we fast-forwarded over. Kevin did a post-match interview and King Kong Bundy came out and beat him up. The interesting thing was that Bundy was nowhere near as thick as he was in his WWF heyday amd he had a nice full head of curly black hair. I won't be making any more arrangements to trade or sell tapes before I go to Edmonton at the beginning of September. When I return in the new year, I'll make things available again, I think. For info on tape discussions, send e-mail with a body consisting solely of the word "help" to Majordomo@cc.gatech.edu.
