- WCW Slamboree takes place on PPV on Sunday. Advertised as the night of the legends of wrestling, this is the PPV that will unveil WCW's Hall of Fame. Slated to appear: Ivan Koloff, Verne Gagne, Greg Gagne, Johnny Valentine, Dusty Rhodes, Magnum TA, Mike Graham, Ole Anderson, Moolah, Blackjack Mulligan, Wahoo McDaniel, Red Bastien, Mr. Wrestling II, Dory Funk Jr., Don Muraco, Lou Thesz, Harley Race, John Tolos, Dick Murdoch, Ox Baker, Jimmy Snuka, Jim Brunzell, Thunderbolt Patterson, Da Crusher, Baron von Raschke, Tully Blanchard, Nick Bockwinkel, The Assassin #1, Joe Blanchard. Footage will be shown from the recent 26th annual Cauliflower Alley old-timers banquet. Tentative line-up for Slamboree: * Van Vader vs. Davey Boy Smith for the WCW Title * Arn Anderon vs. Barry Windham for the NWA Title * Brian Pillman & Steve Austin vs. Rick Steamboat & Shane Douglas for the WCW Tag Titles in a steel cage * 2 Cold Scorpio & Marcus Bagwell vs. Chris Benoit & Bobby Eaton * Dustin Rhodes & Kensuke Sasaki vs. Rick Rude & Paul Orndorff * Sting vs. Scott Norton (tentative, with Scott's knee shot) * Van Hammer vs. Maxx Payne There will be three oldies matches, a single, a tag, and a 6-man tag: * Dory Funk Jr. vs. Nick Bockwinkel * Wahoo McDaniel & Dusty Rhodes vs. Blackjack Mulligan & Ole Anderson There's talk that if Shane Douglas still has shoulder trouble, that the team of Steamboat & Douglas will be replaced by Dos Hombres, since everybody knows that the Hombres are really just Steamboat & Douglas. The Hombres will of course continue to be Steamboat & Brad Armstrong. Let's hope they don't have to go this route. There's still talk that Ultimate Warrior will make an appareance at this show. Don't be too surprised if Davey Boy Smith wins the WCW Title. - It sounds like many of you missed WCW World Wide Wrestling this past weekend. Dustin Rhodes defended his US Title against Rick Rude as part of the "Computer Contenders Challenge" series. After a ref bump and a second ref ran in, they did the old "belly-to-back suplex with both guys pinned" finish (seen in Muta vs. Sting and Windham vs. Luger among other matches in recent memory) and both guys lifted their arms with each ref seeing counting one guy down. The replacement referee declared Rude the winner and they went off the air with the regular referee still shaking off the cobwebs. Looks like we'll have an investigation and maybe a re-match to determine the champion. - Word here is that Slamboree will set up a feud between Dusty Rhodes and Black Jack Mulligan. Both guys will bring in their sons and we'll be "graced" with Dusty & Dusty vs. Jack & Barry Windham matches over the next while. Maybe that will be an excuse for Dustin to not regain the US Title and set him up for a run at the NWA strap. - The WWF has the "King of the Ring" PPV on June 13th. The card will feature an 8-man tournament to determine who the King of the Ring in the WWF is (no idea if there's a prize other than the label or if the label will stick around and maybe be defended). The entrants in the tourney will be decided through several elimination bouts on the WWF syndies. Originally, the WWF aired seeded brackets and named Bret Hart the number one seed. Several guys have qualified for the tourney now and it looks like they'll just be plopped into the tournament brackets as they win matches, with the seeding idea thrown out the window. The tournament will have the following brackets, I guess: Bret Hart --\ |--\ Razor Ramon --/ \ |---\ Jim Duggan --\ / \ |--/ \ Bam Bam Bigelow --/ \ |--- King of The Ring Lex Luger --\ / |--\ / Tatanka --/ \ / |---/ Mr. Hughes --\ / |--/ ? --/ Also on the card: * Hulk Hogan vs. Yokozuna for the WWF Title (rumoured that Mr. Fuji will not be present at ringside, but that Jimmy Hart and Brutus Beefcake will be; Beefcake will trim Yokozuna's hair after he loses the match) * Ted DiBiase & I.R.S. & Headshrinkers vs. Steiners & Nasty Boys - WCW has a Clash of Champions scheduled for 06/15/93. Ric Flair will supposedly step back in the ring on this show. It's rumoured that the main event will be Ric Flair & Arn Anderson vs. Steve Austin Brian Pillman. - WCW has this year's Beach Blast PPV on 07/11/93 from Gulfport, MS. Rumoured main event: Sting & Davey Boy Smith vs. Van Vader & Sid Vicious (or Vader & Scott Norton). - The WWF has SummerSlam in 08/30/93 with a tentative main event of Hulk Hogan vs. Bret Hart for the WWF Title.
