My girlfriend and I had a blast - now we need a vacation ;-). We cruised the Main, Rhein, and Mosel rivers for a few days and then drove to a few cities we wanted to see. The food and wine (not beer drinkers) were great. I've watched all of the wrestling I taped while gone and caught up on news (although about 40 articles expired before I got back). } - Several reports have it that Elizabeth has filed for divorce from Randy Savage. Eliabeth Heulette, 35, married Randy Poffo, 38, in December, 1984. It is expected that Randy Savage will lose the WWF Title to the Ultimate Warrior at the SummerSlam PPV in August and most likely retire in a final attempt to salvage his marriage. Already the WWF has dropped the Elizabeth angle that fueled Savage vs. Ric Flair and will no longer mention her, switching instead to Savage using Flair's tights to pin him. - WCW's Beach Blast PPV will air at 7:00pm EST on Saturday. The tentative line-up is: - Sting vs. Cactus Jack in a non-title match where falls count anywhere on the Gulf Coast - Rick Rude vs. Ricky Steamboat in a 30 minute Iron Man match where the wrestler with the most decisions at the end of 30 minutes wins the match - Steiners vs. Terry Gordy & Steve Williams for the WCW Tag Titles - Brian Pillman vs. Scotty Flamingo for the Lightheavyweight Title - Missy Hyatt vs. Madusa in a bikini contest - Nikita Koloff & Dustin Rhodes & Barry Windham vs. Steve Austin & Arn Anderson & Bobby Eaton - J.T.Southern vs. Johnny B. Badd - Van Hammer vs. Greg Valentine - The WWF has it's SummerSlam PPV scheduled for August 31st. The event was originally scheduled to take place in Landover, Maryland, but has been moved to Wembley Stadium in London, England. It will take place in Wembley on August 29th and will air in the US and Canada on tape. It will close-circuited through much of Europe. The following partial line-up has been announced: - Randy Savage vs. Ultimate Warrior for the WWF Title - Bret Hart vs. Davey Boy Smith for the IC Title - Money Inc. vs. Legion of Doom for the WWF Tag Titles - Undertaker vs. Kamala At the WWF tapings in Hamilton on June 1st, Davey Boy Smith won a battle royal, so it looks like the now-lumbering once-great wrestler, who's just back from his steroid suspension, is going to get pushed. And with him being the popular home star, he'll probably win the IC Title. There is talk that Bret Hart still wants to come to WCW. If LOD wins too, then all the titles would be held by faces, which just doesn't happen in the WWF. So either the LOD will get screwed out of the title (by the Beverly Brothers, presumably) or Ultimate Warrior will become a heel, possessed by Papa Shango. - Roddy Piper has quit the WWF. - Don't know where Jake Roberts is. Talk of him entering WCW ASAP has completely died out. But his little brother, Sam Houston, has left the failing GWF and is trying to get hired by WCW. - Cowboy Bill Watts has instituted many rules in WCW in order to make the product more sport-like than the WWF. It will be "against the rules" to do a move off the top rope or use the barricades or corner posts. In fact, brawling outside of the ring will be pretty much eliminated. These things will all still happen, but the idea is if they are "illegal" they will draw more heat when they happen behind the referee's back. That's great, except it's the high-flying faces who may suffer, having to "cheat" to do their high spots. Liger & Pillman vs. Benoit & Wellington will be ruined by the no high-spots rule. And these rules seem to really hurt Cactus Jack's appeal. We'll see. - Round one of the NWA Tag Team championship tournament took place on Tuesday and will be aired on tape on June 22th at 8:05EST on WTBS. The tournament structure is: The Steiners (1) \ |--\ Miguelito Perez & El Borica / \ |--\ Steve Williams & Terry Gordy (4) \ / \ |--/ | Larry O'Dea Jr. & Larry O'Dea Sr. / | |--\ Chris Benoit & Biff Wellington (8)\ | \ |--\ | | Jushin Riger & Brian Pillman / \ / | |--/ | Joe & Dean Malenko (7) \ / | |--/ | Rick Steamboat & Nikita Koloff / | |-- NWA Tag Titles Hiroshi Hase & Akira Nogami (2) \ | |--\ | The Headhunters / \ | |--\ | Silver King & El Texano (5) \ / \ | |--/ | | The Freebirds / | / |--/ Arn Anderson & Bobby Eaton (3) \ | |--\ | Dustin Rhodes & Barry Windham / \ / |--/ Rick Rude & Steve Austin (6) \ / |--/ Marcus Bagwell & Tom Zenk / where (#) gives the seeding of that team. When the tournament was originally announced, the second and third pairings were switched, but for the sake of having a match to advertise (Steiners vs. Gordy & Williams) for the second round, it looks like they were reversed. - Videotape: I've sent notes to the first 20 people in the request queue and will begin sending out tapes shortly. If you don't know what I'm talking about with this "video" stuff, send me e-mail and I'll clue you in. I won't be posting all the gruesome details yet again. Herb...
