Now, if they add Abdullah vs. Cactus Jack... - We can thank Kip Frey for bringing Jesse Ventura into WCW. This was his first contractual move since taking over for Jim Herd. It's hard to believe we've finally Herd enough ;-). Herd is viewed as being responsible for all the troubles that WCW has had in keeping talent and getting new talent. Between the hope that Frey is giving us and the hope that Jim Crockett has given us (by getting Steamboat and Rude to come in), things are looking better for WCW. There are reports that Herd's resigning from his job was the result of a power struggle between him and Dusty Rhodes over the direction that the company should go. - There's talk that Ted DiBiase has been talked to by WCW. Ted's booking for the Royal Rumble showed the signs of someone who was leaving the company. In addition, Sherri Martel has expressed an interest in Shawn Michaels at a recent TV taping. Something is definitely up with Ted. - Ric Flair made his first successful title defence on Monday in Montreal against Hogan, with Hogan winning the match by count-out. On Tuesday, Ric Flair successfully defended his belt against Roddy Piper. - John W. Price will be sad to learn that the Japanese women's promotion named after him, JWP, has closed up shop. - Chris Chavis should debut this week on the WWF syndies. Soultaker's new WWF gimmick seems to have gotten the green light, so Papa Shango will debut in a few weeks. Art Barr (aka The Juicer) had a WWF try-out. - Don't forget that the WWF has a SNME on FOX on February 8th at 9pm EST. - I've had several people offer to tape future matches of the Lightning Kid for me, but only one person has some old Kid matches lying around. So I'll ask again for anybody with any old Kid matches on tape that they would want to trade copies of to e-mail me. - Finally, as evidence by Tuesday's CoC, I don't think I have the time to run any booking prediction tourney cards this term. I have some ideas for a more involved tourney in the future, and to encourage participation, I was thinking of offering a prize to the winner (maybe a Japanese video ;-)). We'll see next term. Herb...
