Several people have e-mailed me to tell me that they have heard that Blossom is married to Steve Austin, which would make the rumour seem impossible. - At the last WWF tapings in Florida, the Soultaker worked with a new gimmick. As you may recall, he worked a dark match at "This Tuesday in Texas" as Sir Charles. At the tapings, he worked as Papa Shango, a voodoo witch doctor. Stealing a bit from Kamala, he carried a spear with a skull on it to the ring and wore face paint. He also wore a derby, if that makes the character more palatable for you. No word on whether the character is in or out. - I guess the rumours can stop. Lex Luger has officially given notice to WCW that he will be leaving after SuperBrawl, which basically tells us what will happen in the main event. His contract runs one more year, so, while WCW is letting him go, he cannot *wrestle* in that year. Luger has also made comments about the travelling and the bumps making it difficult for him to build his body. I guess the last two sentences combine to give credence to the rumour that Vince will sign Luger to the WBF and then cross him over when he is allowed to wrestle. Stranger things have happened. - People have been asking about Slick. Slick will be brought back into the WWF as Reverend Slick to manage a babyface in the summer. - The WCW & New Japan joint card in Tokyo Dome on January 4th was witnessed by 60000+ fans. It got over well enough that the groups have booked the Dome for another joint card next year, which is good news for those of us who want them to have a good enough relationship that some of New Japan's stars visit the US. Interfederational matches saw: - Dusty & Dustin Rhodes beat Kim Duk & Masa Saito - Arn Anderson & Larry Zbyszko over Shiro Koshinaka & Michiyoshi Ohara - Big Van Vader and El Gigante double count-out - Sting & Keiji Muto beat the Steiners - Lex Luger beat Masa Chono These matches (and who knows, maybe some other Japanese matches?) will air in North America in a couple of months as a taped PPV. Somebody posted that Vader-Gigante was for the IWGP title. It wasn't, since neither man held that belt at the time of the show. - The WWF's Royal Rumble PPV takes place on Sunday afternoon. The Rumble entrants are: 1. Hulk Hogan 11. Hercules 21. Kerry von Erich 2. Undertaker 12. Big Boss Man 22. Greg Valentine 3. Roddy Piper 13. Rick Martel 23. Shawn Michaels 4. Ric Flair 14. Colonel Mustafa 24. Marty Janetty 5. Sid Justice 15. Tito Santana 25. Warlord 6. Randy Savage 16. Skinner 26. Barbarian 7. Jake Roberts 17. Repo-Man 27. Jerry Saggs 8. Jim Duggan 18. Ted DiBiase 28. Brian Nobbs 9. Sgt. Slaughter 19. Davey Boy Smith 29. Berzerker 10. Jimmy Snuka 20. Irwin R. Shyster 30. Virgil Also on the card will be several matches: - Bret Hart vs. The Mountie for the IC Title - Legion of Doom vs. Natural Disasters for the Tag Titles - Sheepwhackers vs. Beverly Brothers - New Foundation vs. Orient Express Both Pat Tanaka and Jimmy Snuka are in for only this night as both have already left the company. Rumour has the Legion of Doom losing their tag belts to the Natural Disasters at the PPV, after beating them for the past several months at the house shows. - As reported already on the net, FOX network television will be airing a WWF special on February 8th. This has, of course, led to much speculation about the outcome of the Royal Rumble. Many are saying that a face will win at the Rumble (say, Piper) and then lose the belt on the FOX special to Ric Flair, who will then face Hulk Hogan at the Royal Rumble. I can't say that I see Vince adding even more title changes into his schedule. Nope, I still think Ric Flair will take the Rumble, and the FOX special will be where Flair-Hogan gets set up for WrestleMania. If it tells you anything, between February 8th and WrestleMania (April 5th?), WWF house shows will be headlined by Randy Savage vs. Jake Roberts and Hulk Hogan & Roddy Piper vs. Ric Flair & Undertaker. - WCW has a Clash of Champions scheduled for January 21st in Topeka, Kansas. The tentative line-up: - Ricky Steamboat & Sting vs. Rick Rude & Steve Austin - Dustin Rhodes & Barry Windham & Ron Simmons vs. Arn Anderson & Larry Zbyszko & Bobby Eaton - Steiner Brothers vs. Van Vader & Mr. Hughes - Cactus Jack vs. Van Hammer - Brian Pillman & Patriots vs. Diamond Studd & Young Pistols - Terry Taylor vs. Thomas Rich - P.N.News vs. Diamond Dallas Page Herb...
