We know that Lex's contract is up in March. When he signed the multi-year deal last March, there were an agreed upon number of dates per year in the contract. Lex reached that number before the end of the year. So, on top of not having anything in his contract about working foreign shows (which is why he hasn't worked in Tokyo or England), he has a contractual reason for not wanting to work any more in North America. He's salaried and whether he works or not his contract guarantees him his money. So Lex has skipped TV tapings and is taking all of January off (with the exception of the Dome show which he agreed to work). Meanwhile, the WCW office is mad that Lex won't work for the good of the company and his future with the company. So that's where the rumours come in: Lex Luger will drop the WCW World Title to Sting in Milwaukee at SuperBrawl '91 on February 29th. Then when the first year of his contract is up in March, WCW and Luger will settle and Luger will leave the company. Of course the WWF rumours are flying too. The unbelievable scenario that has been published here is that Vince McMahon will sign Luger to a contract with the WBF, push him as a top WBF star, and use him to link the WBF and the WWF by having him cross-over. - The WWF's Royal Rumble PPV takes place on January 19th. Virgil Also on the card will be several matches: - Bret Hart vs. The Mountie for the IC Title - Legion of Doom vs. Natural Disasters for the Tag Titles - Sheepwhackers vs. Beverly Brothers - New Foundation vs. Orient Express Both Pat Tanaka and Jimmy Snuka are in for only this night as both have already left the company. - WCW has a Clash of Champions scheduled for January 21st in Topeka, Kansas. The tentative line-up: - Ricky Steamboat & Sting vs. Rick Rude & Steve Austin - Dustin Rhodes & Barry Windham & Ron Simmons vs. Arn Anderson & Larry Zbyszko & Bobby Eaton - Steiner Brothers vs. Van Vader & Mr. Hughes - Cactus Jack vs. Van Hammer - Brian Pillman & Patriots vs. Diamond Studd & Young Pistols - Terry Taylor vs. Thomas Rich - P.N.News vs. Diamond Dallas Page This sounds great on paper. Notice that Luger ain't working. - In late December in Tokyo, the UWFI held several boxer vs. wrestler matches that were meant to legitimize this inter-sport stuff enough to get air-time in the US, but may have instead killed itself. In the main event, Trevor Berbick took on Nobuhiko Takada. Takada started the match by giving Berbick a stiff kick to the leg and Berbick just left the ring and walked back to the showers. The crowd went nuts, but eventually calmed down. Berbick strolled off with his share of the substantial purse. In the pre main event, international boxing federation cruiserweight champion James Warring lost a decision to Billy Scott and didn't stop protesting about it. - Jesse Ventura is suing Vince McMahon for using old footage with Jesse's commentary on those special PPVs and on video releases without The Body's permission. - The next WWF card in Toronto (in February) is headlined by Randy Savage vs. Jake Roberts in a cage. - Rumours have Lady Blossom appearing in the WWF to work as Ric Flair's valet. - Apparently, Magic Johnson has approached both the WWF and WCW about doing wrestling shows as part of an AIDS benefit. The rumours have him proposing some inter-federational matches as the draw. Herb...
