The match line-up is: - Hulk Hogan vs. Sgt. Slaughter, General Adnon, & Ultimate Warrior & Colonel Mustafa with Sid Justice as guest referee - Curt Hennig vs. Bret Hart for the IC Title - Nasty Boys vs. Legion of Doom for the Tag Titles - Ted DiBiase vs. Virgil for the Million Dollar Belt - Big Boss Man vs. Da Mountie with the loser spending a night in the nearest jail - IRS vs. - Kerry von Erich, Davey Boy Smith vs. Warlord, Power & Glory & Ricky Steamboat Of course, Randy and Elizabeth Poffo will also re-affirm their wedding vows, or, for the marks, get married for the first time. It's expected that Roddy Piper will be Randy's best man, although I liked the idea of bringing in Lanny Poffo for the job. The Maid of Honor will apparently be picked from the crowd. It's expected that Sherri Martel will interrupt the ceremony. In the wrestling matches, since the Mountie has run into so much flak from the RCMP in Canada, it looks like he'll be phased out, so it's fair game to assume that he'll end up spending a night in jail and that his character will somehow transform. At a previous batch of TV tapings, Ted DiBiase worked without his $100000 belt, so it's expected that he'll lose somehow. The LOD vs. Nasty Boys match is a toss-up. I'd expect a screw ending and no title change, mainly because of Curt Hennig's lingering back trouble probably necessitating a title change in his match. At a set of tapings for post-SummerSlam airing, Curt worked a short match without his title belt. The main event will probably only feature a Sgt. Slaughter face turn. If you haven't registered your booking predictions for the tournament you still have a few days left. - Ric Flair will work the WWF tapings on September 9th and 10th in Ottawa and Cornwall, Ontario. I'll be in Cornwall that week for a wedding but I doubt I'll be able to get my girlfriend to sit through a multi-hour TV taping, especially for the WWF stuff (she'll only watch Japanese wrestling with me - the woman sure has great taste ;-). Bobby Heenan will continue to have little video bits where he holds the belt and talks about Ric Flair coming into the WWF. It appears that Flair will definitely come in as a heel (as opposed to a Roddy Piper type rebel character) and will verbally challenge Hogan right off the bat. People are already predicting Hulk Hogan vs. Ric Flair as the main event at WrestleMania in the Hoosier Dome in Indianapolis in 1992. This leaves potential title challengers Sid Justice and Ultimate Warrior out in the cold. It's expected that UW's feud with Jake Roberts will be drawn out that long, and that Sid will either be feuding with the Undertaker or challenging for the IC Title (not necessarily exclusive options). - Cactus Jack worked at the last set of WCW tapings. He'll have to decide between working there or in Global. - Hiro Hase & Benkei Sasaki are coming into WCW for a year starting in a couple of weeks. - Barry Windham will complete his face turn in the next few weeks of WCW television shows. - A slightly-injured Shane Douglas will replace a badly injured Shawn Michaels to work with Marty Janetty at the houses. - The Patriots won the US Tag Titles from the Freebirds at the last batch of WCW tapings. The match was apparently very bad, so this title change may go unrecognised. - The next WCW Clash of Champions takes place on September 5th and will probably feature: - Ron Simmons vs. Diamond Studd with the winner getting a title shot at Halloween Havoc - Rick Steiner & Bill Kazmeier vs. Dick Murdoch & Dick Slater for the vacant WCW World Tag Titles (tournament final) - Dustin Rhodes & Bobby Eaton vs. Terrence Taylor & Richard Morton - Brian Pillman vs. Bad Street (Jr. Heavyweight tournament semi-final, final to take place at Halloween Havoc) - Tom Zenk vs. Steve Austin for the TV Title - A Battle Royal with all the guys that can't work a match. - Akira Hokuto, IMHO the best female wrestler in the business and perhaps the best wrestler in the business, will be teaming up with Bull Nakano, who I believe is still the All Japan Women's champ, in the near future. My other All Japan Women favourite, Aja Kong, has screwed up her ankle and is probably out for several months. - Jushin Riger lost his IWGP Jr. Heavyweight title to Akira Nogami in Japan recently. These two also fought on the WCW Egg Dome card in March. Akira defended the title successfully the next night against Brian Pillman. Herb...
