Ric's plans should become clear at the end of this month when his WCW contract expires. He is allowed to work for others in the month of August, but he can't sign a deal with anyone until the end of the month. - Black Blood has been fired by WCW. Eddie Gilbert is coming in. - Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat will be feuding with Skinner Steve Keirn after SummerScam. - Now that they've lost Ric Flair, there's some talk of WCW deciding that the "We Wrestle!" more physical (as Jim Ross would say) style of pro-wrestling is what it should be promoting. - WCW has started a "Bring Brian Back!" letter campaign for fans that want to get Brian Pillman reinstated as a wrestler. This will happen very quickly and Pillman should be back in September. Hopefully, WCW will then start a "Send Dusty Home!" letter campaign. Brian is apparently being re-instated because the Junior Heavyweight division idea that WCW had a while ago is being un-shelved. If this is the case and Jushin Riger comes in to WCW as planned, we have yet to see the best match of the year in North America. - Shawn Michaels is out with knee problems until the end of the year. There goes the WWF's (and with Ric Flair gone, North America's) top worker. - Missy Hyatt has dyed her hair dark brown, or stopped dying her hair blond. I never liked her much before, but now she looks terrible. And she really only knows how to be the "dumb blonde," so her commentary is really terrible. I guess somebody decided that Jeannie Clark should be the company's only blonde. - Apparently the Ultimate Warrior has quit over the steroid testing policy that the WWF is going to adopt. There is supposed to be a steroid test in the WWF some time in the next week - this was announced to the wrestlers in advance. Unfortunately for some, UW included, it takes a little longer than a couple of weeks to get the stuff out of your system when you are taking enough to kill a horse. This rumour may just be brought on by the UW no-showing a WWF TV taping. The WWF wrestlers have been advised not to travel with steroids in their bags, as an impromptu or over-diligent airport search might uncover the nasty truth about the organization. The steroid story is going to get some coverage from Silly Jesse Raphael as well as Inside Edition. This ain't over yet, folks. Superstar Billy Graham will be holding his press conference on August 21st - as others have posted here, it's expected that he'll announce a lawsuit against the steroid manufacturers and the WWF. - Assuming that the Ultimate Warrior hasn't quit the WWF, I think that everybody is barking up the wrong tree in predicting his heel turn at SummerScam. We all know that the Ultimate Warrior is booked on top all over North America against the Undertaker after SummerScam. Ric Flair may well be coming into the group with the obvious feud being with Hulk Hogan. Hogan has to feud with the Undertaker. Right now, with Savage coming back in as number two face, the Ultimate Warrior is primed to be the number four face (behind Hogan, Savage, Justice). If he turns heel, he'll have to mix in with the Undertaker, Curt Hennig, Sgt. Slaughter and Flair and jockey for heel position that will make him a hotter Flair than he is now. In e-mail about SummerScam, I've been trying to convince people that it's far more likely that Sgt. Slaughter will turn face. There is talk of Slaughter turning face, doing a short tour as a face and then taking his front-office job with Titan. We'll see in a couple of weeks. Herb...
