We've seen some terrible skits of Andre refusing the services of various heel managers. Bobby Heenan is obviously out. Sherri Martel and Slick were both ruled out as managers in skits. Jimmy Hart will be the next manager to claim to have Andre under contract - we'll see. Andre worked during the WWF's tour of England, doing psuedo-run-ins, which were really only lumber-ins where Andre chased off managers. - The Dynamite Kid did a favour for Vince McMahon by working the tour of England, since Davey Boy Smith had other commitments. This is no way implies the return of the Kid to the WWF; he's enjoying success in the All Japan rings. - Rhonda Singh has been doing a brief tour of All Japan Women, working as Monster Ripper. She was put over by stars Akira Hokuto and Manami Toyota to set up her match with Bull Nakano. It's not much of surprise that Bull beat Ripper and kept her title. - From a net-fan in Australia (thanks Craig!), here's a transcription of a newspaper column from a Sydney newspaper: ----- "HULK IN HUFF OVER $1M KNOCKBACK World wrestling star Hulk Hogan has snubbed a planned Sydney tour because his demand for a $2 million appearance fee was refused. The giant wrestler, who appeared with Sylvester Stallone in Rocky III, demanded $1 million a week for 14 days work. Shocked promoters of next month's event were unable to meet his request so Hulk's handlers said he wasn't available. The American performer was to appear with 12 other wrestlers at Australia's Wonderland at Eastern Creek, in Sydney's west, between June 29 and July 14. Wonderland is building a 3000 seat stadium so the stars of the popular Rock 'n' Roll Wrestling series can perform during the school holidays. Theme park spokesman Rob MacSween said last night organizers were upset their No.1 draw card wasn't travelling to Australia. 'Hulk Hogan is probably one of the best known wrestlers in the world and we wanted him out here,' Mr MacSween said. 'But we just couldn't believe the amount of money he asked for it was certainly out of our range. The guy wanted a million dollars a week for two shows a day.' Despite Hogan's absence, Mr MacSween said Wonderland had still compiled a formidable line up of American wrestlers." ----- I haven't heard anything about who the "formidable" American wrestlers are that will attend the event. Anybody have any info? - The biggest story in wrestling besides Jim Hellwig's sexual history and leaning is the arena war that WCW and the WWF are about to begin. The two companies have always had trouble allowing each other to work in the same building and the WWF has used some pretty dirty tactics to maintain their exclusivity clauses and make WCW seem second-rate. WCW has decided to take legal action against the buildings and, quite possibly, the WWF if they do not get dates for shows in certain cities. There are cities with only one arena where wrestling could be staged and the WWF is effectively locking WCW out of these cities with their exclusive contracts. The summer should be quite interesting as this heats up. - Finally, it looks like WCW will be returning to Toronto for a house show some time near the end of the summer. Herb...
