They finally have Sgt. Slaughter back on the show, for all the good it will do them. The feature match was a mixed tag team match between Candi Divine & Baron von Raschke and Magnificent Mimi & Colonel DeBeers. Neither guy could carry the other in this match, so the women took up most of the match time. Don't get me wrong - these two women are not particularly good, but I don't really mind watching Mimi (introduced as 'straight from the pages of Playboy'). The match ended with Mimi scoring the pin on Candi after DeBeers entered the ring and reversed a small package while referee Gary DeRusha was not looking. - Rumours are very strong that there will be some competition for WrestleMania this year on April 1st. Word has it that AWA champ Larry Zbyszko has signed to meet NWA champ Ric Flair on this date in an inter-federation card. It's unclear whether this will be a title-unification bout. - The above rumour might well change seeing as Larry Zbyszko is no longer the AWA world champ. That's right, Larry lost his belt on the weekend in the Tokyo Dome before 68410 fans. The new champ is Masa Saito. This means that Nikita Koloff doesn't get his title match this Sunday in Rochester. - Sting is indeed injured. Although official word is that Sing was attacked by Ric Flair, Ole & Arn Anderson in Birmingham, on the weekend, as the more astute net-fans have noticed, it seems like Sting did some damage to himself (or was already injured) at the time of the Clash last week. Nonetheless, he is injured and is not expected to return to the NWA for four months. This throws quite a wrench into WrestleWar '90 later this month. It is strongly rumoured that Lex Luger will be used as a Sting substitute for this card. No one else will draw the crowd like Lex will, and he's honestly the only guy 'worthy' of a title shot at a PPV right now. There is talk that Luger will take the strap. Either way, Steve Williams gets screwed out of his US title match against Lex. {Possible scenario: Williams is so pissed that he doesn't get his title shot, he interferes in the match and saves Ric's butt. Steve becomes an honorary Horseman. I doubt it though, since Steve has been given a face push.} - The WWF is going to hold a card in Japan on April 13. Vince McMahon and Japanese wrestling legend now promoter Giant Baba will team up to put on a card at the Tokyo Dome. The card is headlined by Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage. Japan is a very lucrative wrestling market - last week, an all-star wrestling card packed in 56000 fans, with ringside tickets going for $350. It makes WrestleMania's $150 seats seem a bargain ;-) - Iron Mike Tyson's boxing title loss on the weekend will not effect his commitment to the WWF. Mike will still work the match on February 23rd as referee between Hogan and Savage. However, with his boxing problems, it seems unlikely that he will get too involved with the wrestling world.
