[RESULTS/OPINION] Monday Night RAW/Monday Nitro (11/20) Monday Night RAW: Live. - Show opens with still clips of Hart beating Diesel for World title. - 1-2-3 KID vs. HAKUSHI Kid hits Hakushi with the spinning kick after DiBiase pushes Hakushi off the top rope. The 1-2-3 Kid gets the pin. At one point during the match, Marty Jannetty comes to ringside and tries to enter the ring to attack the Kid, but is held back by several referees. After the match, Jannetty show up again, but is followed by Sid, who tells Jannetty he'd " ... have to go through me first!" Sid and the Kid attack Jannetty. Sid powerbombs Jannetty onto the floor at ringside. - Clips recapping Survivor Series. Dok Hendix plugs the next PPV: In Your House V. Quick cut to a shot of Diesel entering the arena (pushing a few small WWF lackeys aside). - SAVIO VEGA vs. SKIP No decision. Possibly Skip via DQ. Match is stopped when Diesel comes to ringside, knocks down Skip, and delivers a speech over the house microphone. He berates McMahon for turning Diesel into a "corporate puppet". He says from now on it's his family, friends (Shawn Michaels in particular), and himself first. - SHAWN MICHAELS vs. OWEN HART No decision. Referee stopped match. Match ends after Shawn Michaels knocks Owen over the top rope, then collapses in the center of the ring. Referee checks on Michaels, who is lying motionless on the mat. Owen keeps his distance, looking concerned and confers with Jim Cornette. McMahon enters ring. After commercial break, we see Michaels still down in the ring as attendants and medical personnel arrive. McMahon is shown looking very concerned as Lawler stands at ringside. Show goes off the air with Michaels still out on the mat. No commentary of any type is made for the last five minutes of the show. A few shots are taken of fans at ringside nearly in tears. Match itself had been quite good up to the end. - Next week's main event: Undertaker vs. Kama. Comments: Diesel seems to be adopting a more extreme personality, as opposed to a full blown heel turn. Crowd was very much behind Diesel. The incident involving Michaels was somewhat reminescent of his tangle with Sid just after WrestleMania. I'm assuming at this time that the whole thing was a work, but must admit it was very realistic and quite unnerving. Overall, this was an excellent, albeit unusual, installment of RAW. Monday Nitro: Live. - SCOTT NORTON vs. THE SHARK Norton gets the pin following an impressive powerslam. Short, meaningless match. - Interview with Jimmy Hart and Kevin Sullivan re: Hogan vs. Sting. Quick clip of Hogan and Savage on "Baywatch" is shown. - EDDY GUERRERO vs. FLYIN' BRIAN PILLMAN The Giggling Horseman. Ric Flair comes out and calls Guerrero "light work," and says Pillman would wrestle in his place. Momentum swings back and forth a few times, but in the end Guerrero kicks Pillman's ass, getting the pin following the Frog Splash (which both Bischoff and McMichael call a "jacknife"). Excellent match! Disco Inferno appeared in the entryway prior to the start of the match. - ROAD WARRIOR HAWK vs. BIG BUBBA Pathetic match. Bubba tapes a roll of quarters in his fist. Duggan comes to ringside and trips Bubba, who knocks himself out with his own taped fist. Hawk gets the pin. - HULK HOGAN vs. STING Savage comes out the entryway and pretends to beckon Hogan to come out. Following what seems like forever, Hogan sneaks into the ring from the opposite direction. He taps Sting on the shoulder, but doesn't attack him. After a bit of jaw jacking, they lock up. Sting has the momentum for most of the match. Sting slaps the Scorpion on Hogan, who powers out of it. Hogan eventually "hulks up", hits the big boot, and drops the leg. Sting kicks out! After working on Hogan's leg for a bit, Sting slaps on the Scorpion again. Hogan tells Savage (who's been at ringside for the entire match) that he needs help and that his leg is breaking. Before anything can come of it though, the Dungeon of Doom runs in. Hogan and Sting fend off the Dungeon until the Giant arrives. The Giant grabs both Hogan and Sting by the throat and delivers chokeslams. Savage hits the Giant in the back with a chair to little effect, and is rewarded with a chokeslam of his own. Hogan and Sting then knock the Giant out of the ring with a chair (each holding one end of it-they clothesline him over the top rope). - Show ends with Sullivan and Hart at the announcing booth claiming they'll get revenge on Sting. - Next week's main event: No matches mentioned, as they ran out of time. Comments: The crowd was dead for most of the show. Sting and Hawk got the biggest cheers. Hogan was booed by much (if not most) of the crowd. The Guerrero/Pillman match was excellent. Obviously, big things are in store for Eddy. Norton/Shark and Bubba/Hawk were complete wastes of airtime. Hogan/Sting, all things considered, was a darn good match! Hogan must have thought he was in Japan because he actually used a couple of wrestling moves. This match pretty much established Sting as Hogan's equal, and one has to bet he'll win the title at World War 3. Also, any thoughts of a heel turn were squashed. Instead, a feud with the Dungeon of Doom looks likely. Bottom line: Nitro was good. It gives Sting a lot of momentum going into WW3. If he does win the title, it should give WCW a solid presence at the top until when (or if) Hogan returns from his movie (which as far as I know is still on). RAW was very unpredictable, and had the best "live" feel of any wrestling show in a long time. It was hard to flip to Nitro when you had absolutely no idea what might happen next. I don't want to comment too much on the Michaels collapse until more is known. As I stated above, I'm assuming it's a work, but damn ... it sure seemed real! With this and the Diesel interview, the WWF seems to have taken a leap at being more realistic, and possibly a more credible organization. (Too bad they've got the Undertaker-yes, it's still the same old Undertaker- wearing that goofy mask). This week's winner: RAW.
