THE NEWS FROM DAYTON VIA E-MAIL IS A REALITY! Thanks to the generous help of Chris Zimmerman (y'know, the guy who actually coined the phrase "My Own Damned Opinion," which I now enjoy using on a regular basis), the NFD is gonna have a fully automated mailing list, effective immediately. [At this time, I don't see any reason will would alter the current outlets for the NFD, like my web page or RSPW.] While the list is temporary (depending on Aimnet's ability/willingness to provide this wonderful service for a bunch of mutant wrestling fans), we hope that the list will be going as long as the NFD is around! [And with over 1000 folks per day stopping by the web page, I'm not expecting a sudden loss of motivation!] "Scaia, quit babbling, and tell me what to do to get on the list," I hear you screaming. OK, here's what you do: (1) Send e-mail to "majordomo@aimnet.com" (2) In *THE BODY* (not the subject header), include these exact words: "subscribe nfd" (3) Now, that was easy wasn't it? If all goes well, you will get a message back very quickly. In it, you will be asked to "authenticate" your desire to be on the NFD Mailing List. This is a simple precaution to prevent assholes from signing people up to be on the list who don't want to be on the list. The authentication process is not difficult; all you'll have to do is send a second message to the majordomo address with an authentication code. Just follow the exact instructions in the message, and you'll be OK. Once you authenticate, the "Welcome to the NFD Mailing List" message, co-authored by Yours Truly and CRZ, will appearin your box. It is our strong suggestion that you save a copy, as it contains vital information about the way the list will work and how to do things like unsubscribe (which we really hope you'll take the time to do if you ever switch e-mail accounts or anything like that). The first e-mail version of the NFD will be the post-Final Four edition, which will be dated February 17, 1997. As will be usual, it will come out late on Sunday or sometime Monday afternoon. So, if you want to get the NFD Weekly in your mailbox as it is fresh off the presses (instead of waiting till I get it up and going on my web pages), just follow the above instructions, and you'll be signed up! Just keep in mind that during the week, nothing is a substitute for stopping by the NFD Web Site for other great features, as well as regular updates on breaking news.
