Again this is only a rumor, nothing I can confirm as the truth. In case you haven't see this before, "The News From Dayton" is a recap of the Alex Marvez column printed each and every Sunday in the Dayton Daily News, all rights reserved. On to the dirt.... * Headline reads "Questions remain about p.p.v. event". Alex states that while Michaels will definitely win his match with Vader at SS, there are still questions as to the main event of the Sept 22 IYH ppv. Two matches are rumored: Michaels/Lothario vs. Vader/Cornette or Michaels vs. Mankind. Alex writes that since fans are apathetic over Jose, don't be surprised if Mankind attacks Jose soon and hits him with the dreaded Mandible Claw. In other WWF news, Chris Candido has an arm injury and is not expected to wrestle at SS. And if Steve Austin and Goldust begin feuding as is expected, look for Marc Mero to get involved as well which will set up a triangle match at a future PPV. * "WCW Unites" is the next part of the column. Last Thursday's Clash set up the main event for "War Games" on Sept 15. Sting and Luger helped save Flair from an NWO attack during his match with Hogan, setting up Flair/Anderson/Sting/Luger vs. NWO at the Wargames PPV. Alex writes that while the original plans called for all Four Horsemen to face the NWO on the card, Sting and Luger were upset they weren't in the match, thus it was changed. Benoit will now face Chris Jerico, while Mongo's opponent is undecided. The NWO's partner is still unknown, although Sean Waltman is no longer a candidate. The 1-2-3 Kid has been unable to secure a release from his WWF contract. * Alex states that both Raw and Nitro were outstanding last week, although RAW garnered one of its lowest ratings ever (which doesn't bode well entering Summerslam). Alex feels that Clarence Mason was hilarious in his color commentary while Crush was wrestling. * Good news concerning Jushin Liger. His brain tumor is benign, so he expects a return after surgery this week. * Finally, a plug for Alex's hotline. Summerslam results will be available after 10 ar 1-900-285-3940. Cost is $.95 a minute. The line is also updated after 6 on Tuesdays and Fridays.. Now other news from the net..... * Rad Radford may replace Skip in the 4-team match at Summerslam. The New Rockers are the favorites to win the belts. * Ted Dibiase will debut in WCW sometime in the next two weeks as part of the NWO. * Barry Windham may debut with his stalker gimmick during the bolier room match between Mankind and Undertaker at Summerslam. * If Waltman is unable to get out of his contract in time for War Games, the 4th man for the NWO in War Games could be Mabel, Jarrett, DDP or Nick Patrick. Patrick did wrestle as a jobber back in the 80's. That's all for now, Rick returns next week...I had a great time filling in!
