Alex says it was an OK show, much better than the previous night's effort in COlumbus, OH; both were headlined by Flair/Savage main events (and both times, the match ended exactly the same, though Alex does not say how). They drew 5,000 fans here in Dayton, which is about a half full building... still that isn't bad, all things considered. Then again, there was a major free tix give-away (to anyone who bought the Uncensored PPV), so who knows how many paid? * Alex does a capsule recap of WM, saying that Shawn/Bret was disappointing (with the OT win "[not giving] Michaels much momentum going into his WWF title reign"), but that Piper/Goldust was surprisingly good (actually, Alex calls it "outstanding"). * The Road Warriors threatened to leave WCW early in the week, to go to the WWF... they were susppossedly not happy with doing jobs and their money in comparison to incoming WWF stars Diesel and Razor. However, by week's end, the tiff had been smoothed over. * The "first" Hogan/Savage match (Alex meant to say the first *WCW* match) will be at Halloween Havoc. Savage in the main event was part of the Slim Jim deal that moved the Havoc PPV from Cinci to Vegas. * Trying to shoot down those nasty rumors, Marvez states unequivicably that there is, was, and will be only one Ultimate Warrior, and his name is Jim Hellwig. Other stuff: * First things first: I won't be including info from Georgie's Chatterbox anymore. She asked readers of her various online info sources not to go spreading her info beyond its intended forums. I figure I've been a leech long enough; she's asked nicely,so I'll stop. I would guess that there will still be folks out there who will share whatever they hear (and there is no legal way to stop that), but I won't be doing it unless Georgie ever changes her mind. For the record, I'll still be reading and enjoying her morsels of info, AND SO SHOULD YOU! She is on both America On-Line and Prodigy, and she has a Chatterbox web page in association with The Grandstand sports service. The URL is: http://www.gstand.com/wrestle/chatbox and you are strongly encouraged to stop by for all the info that you won't be reading here anymore! * Beginning TODAY, Monday Night RAW begins at 8:57 every week. All in the name of 3 more minutes of WWF action every Monday night! And also, I would assume, to even the playing field with Nitro, to some extent. Also this week, WCW Nitro is *not* on... RAW is responding with really loaded show that will include Vader destroying Yokozuna, a hot interview with the Warrior, and Diesel and Mr. Perfect kicking off Shawn Michaels' title run with an introductory ass-kicking. * The new WWF Magazine arrived this week. Some things of interest: they ran part 2 of a GREAT Shawn Michaels interview... I have no idea if the WWF Mag has actually made a move from those horribly bland worked interview to actually interviewing the alleged subject, or if they've merely moved to terribly well-researched worked interviews. Either way, the latest one with Shawn (which started last issue, and included a great anectode about how Shawn's family and college buddies knew he belonged at a wrestling school and not college when, one night while partying, Shawn bladed and ran around saying "Look at me, I'm pro wrestler!") is fantastic reading. In the latest segment, Shawn discusses a lot of subjects quite frankly (he still was vague on a couple topics), most noticeably in discussing the beating in Syracuse. He talks about the cynics saying that was all a work, and how anyone who wanted to find out the truth would find out that this is one thing that is very real. If anyone out there wanted to break several copyright laws, posting that interview would be fun for all of us on RSPW! Another observation from the WWF Mag is that the WWF has apparently signed over control of the Ultimate Warrior character to Jim Hellwig. In two ads for his self-glorifying side project out there in Arizona, the small print reads that "Warrior and Ultimate Warrior are trademarks of" whatever the hell he calls the business. I would guess that means that the WWF makes zilch off of Warrior merchandising now. Only interesting part about the ads is that in one of them, a letter ostensibly from the Warrior himself says something about no more flase hype, no more sleazy rumors, and no more cheap imitations, and then says in parentesis something like, "Get out of the way Renegade, and get yourself to a gym." I thought that was pretty funny. * Marc Mero is continuing his fantastic record of fan interaction by being the first (and only) WWF superstar to actually participate in his folder on WWF On-Line. Of course, we occassionaly here from him on RSPW, and he also keeps up his own folder under the Grandstand part of AOL. Some tidbits from the land of the Wild Man: It's true that Marc and Sable are real life husband and wife. Most surprising to me is how Marc is taking all of the drooling most red-blooded men are doing over his wife in such good humor! He starts full time with Titan in May, but already says that the WWF guys are all good people, and that they run a more "professional" company than WCW. He also says that there are others in WCW unhappy with how things are going, and that some jumps may not be out of the questions when contracts expire. Specifically mentioned were Dean Malenko and Chris Benoit. Also, Marc praised Diamond Dallas Page as being probably WCW's most improved wrestler and best heel, and that makes WCW's inability to figure out how to end a feud that much more frustrating. * More big names are getting on-line: Alex Wright has just begun his own folder on AOL. Other than the fact that he really is only 20, I didn't find anything interesting in the early stages of Alex's folder. Funniest thing was that Pillman (who is also on AOL) stuck his nose in long enough to make fun of Alex for being a good company boy who doesn't object to jobbing to old men. * Speaking of Pillman, he's doing the Loose Cannon schtick BIG time on AOL. In the funniest bit to date, he called Alex Wright a spy for Eric Bischoff, sent to AOL to dig up dirt on Pillman. Pillman stays totally in character, which is mildly annoying when you've got Wright and Mero treating the fans a bit more respectfully, but you gotta admit that Pillman is making a case for Best Heel of the Year. The Loose Cannon schtick would work 1,000,000 time better if Brian took the time to edit his replies and messages so that they make more sense... it's still a chore to pick through his folder trying to figure out what everything means.
