I just simply didn't have a chance to log on. Let's start with the returning Alex Marvez column: * Whole column was dedicated to commemorating the first 6 months of the Monday Night Wars. He noted that over the time period, the war is a dead heat, but that Nitro has begun to take the slim lead if you only consider 1996 number. The Nitro replay is no small part of that, he notes, while RAW is not replayed. However, the WWF remains the far and away leader in PPV revenue. Marvez even suggests that it wouldn't be outrageous for WWF WrestleMania to triple WCW Uncensored in buyrate later this month. He declares that no winner can truly be declared in the MNW... except for the fans. The rest of the column is dedicated to running down a list of improvements both companies have made, and the cool things the fans have seen on Monday Nights. Some news from Georgie's Chatterbox (on AOL): * ECW is getting TV in Georgia this month (sorry, I didn't jot down the station... I think it's just Georgia cable access, if that makes sense), and Paul E. is thinking about running house shows down there starting in the late Spring. * On Feb. 26, RAW and Nitro combined for a 6.3 rating (which is about 10% of ALL cable households watching TV at the time), the highest ever! More people are watching wrestling on Mondays than ever before... and the 6.3 was evenly split between the WWF and WCW: Nitro did 3.2, RAW a 3.1. * Johnny B. Badd's contract has expired, and he has not signed another one with WCW. However, he told folks on his AOL folder that he still worked TV for WCW, and hopes to sign a contract with them soon. * Don't know if this was on TV already, but Madusa and Dick Slater turn on Col. Parker. * Expect something HUGE to come out of the 2/8 ECW show in Queens, NY. Georgies says Meltzer is expecting a super big surprise, something big enough that Obi Wan Meltzer himself is considering flying in from California for the show.
